"GREAT FUN AND GIVES ME SOMETHING TO FOCUS ON"
"Having mucked about (badly) with guitars over the years my son started having lessons in his home town and kept on at me to have lessons too.
I couldn't see the point at 63 because I am never going to be the next Clapton but in the end he looked up Matt and booked me a lesson for my birthday.
I was probably fairly apprehensive about the whole idea but Matt takes a very gradual approach to ease you into it and I don't worry about making a fool of myself any more. He is gradually getting me out of lots of bad habits and showing me shortcuts and techniques that you just can’t get from online sites.
I have no hesitation in recommending him, especially if you can’t quite take the plunge and need a bit of encouragement. It’s nothing like as daunting as you may think and it makes you want to improve every week so gives an objective to aim for."

"AS A GUITAR TUTOR, HIS TEACHING STYLE SUITED ME"
I first started learning guitar at the age of 10 when my uncle leant me his ’94 Fender Stratocaster. After teaching me a number of Eric Clapton songs and how to play the blues, I was hooked. I would learn guitar from my uncle for a while, mainly focusing on blues improvisation, where he would play a guitar lick and then I would try and play it back to him.
My uncle and my mother bought me a Vintage SG that year, my first electric guitar. I had such a drive for learning the instrument and wanted to learn to play like all the guitar greats, from Peter Green and Eric Clapton to Slash and Strive Vai.
At secondary school I learnt to appreciate all styles of music where the guitar could be found. I joined the jazz band at school as rhythm guitar, the first time I had the experience of working with other musicians. We only played a few songs before the drummer and I set off to form our own band, at this point I knew I was taking my guitar playing to the next level. There was a period of time where I didn’t have guitar lessons and wasn’t really moving forward with my guitar playing, until I met Matt.
As a guitar tutor, his teaching style suited me, he gave me new ideas on approaching guitar solos, technique and feeling in playing guitar. The guitar lessons were always fun and centred around what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go on the guitar.
